Some
History of Amos n Andy Videos
12th Anniversary Of Howard Madden's Amos 'n Andy Videos.
November 2005 marked the 12th anniversary when Howard first offered his collection for sale. Collectors could then have 71 episodes instead of the previous 60 episodes that were for sale in 1993. In the intervening years Howard has located better quality masters for all of the 60 original episodes. This is why Howard's collection is the absolute finest collection available anywhere.
The Amos and Andy TV show was aired on CBS television from 1951 to 1953. There were a total of 78 episodes filmed. There is some discussion that perhaps some of the 78 episodes were never aired.
In the early eighties a set of Amos and Andy 16mm films was sold to a company who started selling VHS tapes of the episodes. There were a total of 60 episodes and this collection formed the base of all collections. The quality of the prints varied from good to poor.
Various companies copied the collection and marketed the shows under various names. There are a few companies that still sell the original 60 episodes.
Howard
Madden started his collection with these 60 episodes but he was not satisfied.
What happened to the other 18 episodes? Howard started searching and over the
years found 11 more episodes to bring the total of available episodes to 71.
NOTE: AAA has located episode number 72-"Andy
Gets Married"
Important
Note: One or two companies advertise more than 72 episodes-do not be misled-there
are only 72 episodes. These companies count the "Introduction to the Cast"
kinescope and the cartoons as episodes. They are not! Collectors who have emailed
these companies for a list of their episodes have never received an answer!
Howard
started selling his collection on VHS tape to other collectors but at the same
time he continued to search for better quality episodes to upgrade his collection.
He was fortunate to locate a dozen beautiful masters duped from 35mm film prints.
The prints had been stored in ideal conditions and the quality was outstanding.
Howard also found masters of beautiful 16mm film prints to replace some of the
original episodes. After all these years the chances of locating any of the missing
episodes are slim. In fact, locating prints that are an improvement on Howard's
existing collection is also growing slim, but the search goes on.
Remember that copies of copies are never as good as the original!

NO
ONE but AAA offers individual DVD's for sale!
All other vendors offer only full set's and there is a
reason for this! If
your product is junk you cannot allow buyers to order one DVD and check out the
quality.
If you did you would never sell your set.
